Installing new headunit, need some help!

Hey everyone,

So this is my first time installing audio equipment into my car on my own, so I apologize in advance if this is kinda common sense. I currently have a Pioneer DEH-2000MP in my car and I now have an 80prs to install, I'm okay with all of the harnessing, my issue is with the RCA plugs. In the HU I have now there is only one set but with the 80prs, there are 3 pairs. How do I go about getting the other two pairs of RCA cables from the speakers and subwoofers? do I have to buy them and hook them up? Thanks for the help!

oh okay, so since I don't have an amp for my speakers (yet) I only plug in the RCA's going from the amp for my subs to the HU? Again, sorry if this is a ridiculous question, it's my first time doing this.

Describe the setup. Are you using the 80PRS to power the speakers or do you have amp(s)? You use RCAs if you have aftermarket equipment.

Yeah, I have a feeling I'm going to end up doing that, but I wanted to see how difficult it would be to do it on my own, if I could do it myself and not have to spend money on someone else doing it that would be ideal.

You are way off on the very easy basic stuff. Ask here before you get a shop to do it. Give us their quote

I will be installing the 80prs, it is replacing my current headunit, I have stock speakers with no amp and I do have subwoofers. Thank you for clearing that up for me, I was under the impression that even without an amp, the speakers still had RCA's.

Yeah, you should definitely take it in to get installed professionally. Side note: you should really look into adding an amp for your speakers. Not sure if you have stock speakers, but replace them along with getting an amp.

Still think I need to take it to get professionally installed even though I now know I only have one pair of RCA's? And about the speakers and amp, yeah Those are the next thing on the list, but due to money and school I think I have to wait until next summer to get those things. Thanks for the help!

all the stuff you posted about is in the user manual. if you would have just read the manual than you could have figured it out.

If you're still talking about RCAs, yes, please get it professionally installed. You will NOT be using RCA outputs on the deck if you do not have aftermarket amp(s).

there's millions of pages online about this if you just looked it up, we could step you through it but it's a pain if you don't go research it yourself and figure out how it works. we want to help you with kinks along the way.

its not that difficult like people say, speaker wires get matched to your hu, SUB RCA's from HU go to sub amp. we just cant force feed you this stuff, you have to have some self initiative and LEARN it.
