Installing Fat Mat when temps are low

I am pulling the rear deck trim off right now in order to remove the crappy 6x9s that are mounted in it. I thought I would put some fatmat down while I have everything off.

1st question is does putting some deadener on the rear deck even needed?

Perhaps I should put it on the backside of the deck trim as that is what would be more likely to rattle, right?

Also temps are about 40ish right now. I have a heat gun. Do I heat up the sticky side of the fatmat before putting it on or do I put it on and then hit it with heat from the top of it?

thanks

rear deck deadener imo is the most important with a subwoofer in the trunk. When you get some serious power going back in the trunk the back deck will make your bass sound horrible. So deadener will stop that horrible sound while protecting your rear fill speakers from being ruined from the rattle.
