Installing an Amplifier

I am getting a Hifonics BRZ1700.1D 1700W Amplifier and am considering getting it professionally installed. I have installed some amplifiers and some of my buddies say that it isn't safe to do an amplifier that high in power. Will I be fine installing it by myself? If so, what amp wiring kit should I get?

As long as you UNHOOK THE BATTERY, you should be fine. I can't comment on the wire size as I know nothing about that amp. Installing an amp is the same whether it's 20w or 2000w.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking.

amp takes up to 4 gauge but i would just do a 0 gauge run just incase you decide to go bigger in a few months or a year. Just trim the wire down so it fits. Look up knukonceptz or sky high car audio or execution audio 1/0 amp kits.

You would need to do the big 3 upgrade and get a digital multi-meter for 2 reasons, one is to set the gain properly(google up how to set gains with DMM) and another is to monitor your system voltages when you are playing full blast, see how much volts you are dropping down to.

Dont waste money having others install it for you, its a simple job you can do yourself.

I would go with either 0 ga CCA or 4 ga OFC for your application.

KCA 0 Gauge Power Amplifier Installation Kit - Merchandise

Kolossus Fleks 4 Gauge Amplifier Installation Kit - Merchandise

I won't be upgrading any after this.
