Installers: frosted plexiglass?

I have a question for all the installers out there. i'm planning on building an amp rack for a friend of mine and watned to mount his amps on a sheet of plexiglass. instead of mounting them on a clear sheet i wanted to use a frosted/sanded sheet leaving the edges untouched. then i would mount a few neons (hidden of course) on the edges so the light would travel across the sheet giving it a glowing effect. i guess the basis behind my idea is that the light will somewhat be trapped within the sheet because of the frosted surfaces giving the effect that the plexiglass is glowing.

has anyone played round with plexi in this way?

thanks. i dont know how i skipped that one when i searched.

ramos hit the nail on the head with what i'm trying to do. it didn't occur to me to paint the sides white and then add the lighting. i picked up a sheet of plexi to day to start experimenting and had them polish the edges to possibly enhance light transmission through the sheet. painting the edges white kind of goes against the original thought i had but we'll see what happens.

they did it on unique whips it looks pretty cool i think it will work...but you can only frost one side of it

if you are frosting some kind of logo, i think that it looks nice if you make the top clear and frost the logo in the back of the plexi. just remember to design it backwards. i tihnk it looks cleaner that way.

no logo is going to be used. it's going to be more like a glowing platform that the amps are going to sit on, then the whole thing is going to be covered by a false floor and a clear sheet of plexiglass over the amp rack area.
