Installation on a Ford Taurus

Im going to a system install on a ford taurus tomorrow. The only thing i need to know how to do is how to get an audio signal from the stock deck to the new amplifier. I'm not sure what yr taurus it is but it has the headunit that is one peice and houses the hvac and blower controls.

Also, how exactly can the headunit be removed from the dash?

your only option in your circumstance is to use "high level inputs" meaning you will connect your amp either from the speaker inputs of the HU or further back,,, from your connections to your speakers. some amps have stock wiring harnesses for this... others do not... Maybe a bit more info?

To remove the headunit, youll need the ford removal keys. Theyre shaped like U's.

Also, you can tap into the speaker wire in the back. There is the stock control module back there in the trunk, and it will make the RCA run easier.

It's a 97 taurus. With the can you tell me more about the stock control module?

Also if i were to tap into one of the speaker wires, would i just splice it so it goes 3 ways?

The Taurus install I helped with was a *****...but we put a new h/u and ran the rcas the length of the car.

What he means is you will find a 2 pairs of speaker wire. I would say use the rear speakers. Find the + and - for the left and the same for the right and hook them up to the corresponding wires on the line converter. From the converter you will run RCAs to your amp. It takes signal levels from speaker wire and tranfers it to RCA is all it does.

not sure how diff 2003 is but if it were me i would do what every one else is saying, just run off the rear deck speakers. But look into getting a new H/U and things will be alot easier in the future. I can tell you though that the taurus' do not like bass. You will have to use lots of Dynamat to keep out the Vibes and on my taurus if i fold the back seats back up i lose about 50% of my sub output and it makes it sound like crap.
