Installation of a iva-w200

Im looking at getting a iva-w200. I have a 99 mountaineer. Will i have problems getting this in? I know i dont have a double din but its close is there a kit or anything? How would i go about installing it?
There are kits for it. Some of them are junk. You may be able to slide the Alpine sleeve into your dash so that it fits really snug with no need for additional bracing. On my '04 Explorer, that's what I did. I had to file a little bit on the top and bottom of the dash opening to get the sleeve in, so it's a very snug fit. The Alpine trim ring left gaps once I put the bezel back on, so I cut out a custom piece to put over that, and it looks much better. I don't know for sure how different your 99 is going to be. You will definitely be able to make it fit, it just might take some work. It's a great unit.

Good luck!

Thanks do you have the bypass module?

Yep, I've got the TR7. I hooked the power and ground on it at the connections of the factory and Alpine harness, and then ran the remote lead from the W200 to a 30amp relay, which provides a remote lead to all of my amps and to the TR7. Works great.

So is it pretty easy to do? Is there a instruction thing or what? Im new to it.

The TR7 came with instructions. It's pretty simple. Red wire to 12V, black wire to ground, green (I think) to the remote lead from the head unit (or relay), and then one of the wires to the parking brake wire from the head unit, and another to the foot brake wire from the head unit. I don't remember the color on those from the top of my head, but the instructions are easy enough to follow. Also, leave the switch on the TR7 in the "off" position. No need to program it, either, as the Alpine bypass function is the factory setting for the TR7. The Alpine came with installation instructions in the manual. It will go quicker if you are using RCAs to your amps and don't have to fiddle with the speaker wires.

Install was not too difficult, once I figured out how to get it in there and make it sit just right. Yours will go quicker if you have a good kit. If you run into snags, you can pick my brain. I just did it this weekend and I went through a lot of trial and error before figuring out the best way. But again, your '99 is probably a little different from my '04. A tough part for me was getting the TR7, relay, harness, and all the rest of the wiring stuffed back and out of the way so I could get the unit all the way in. There isn't a whole lot of room behind the dash.

If you have any doubts, take it to a pro. It's a pricey unit and you'd hate yourself if you messed it up.

I just bought the TR7 and am waiting on my W200 to arrive in the mail...I've been reading the TR7 manual and nowhere in there does it say that you have to run wires to the nadbrake or the footbrake. Are you sure that you have to do that? My impression was that all of the wiring is done behind the dash and the TR7 simulates the handbrake and footbrake being pressed.

Are you 100% sure you have the TR7? Did you look at the application #2, which is the factory setting, which is for the Alpine video bypass? It clearly tells you which wires to hook up directly to the parking brake wire and foot brake wire that come out of the W200. All of the wiring will be behind the dash, between those two pieces. You don't actually hook up wires to the brakes on your vehicle. That is the whole point of the TR7, to bypass that so you can use the DVD function while driving. I can see how it would be confusing without having the Alpine harness in front of you. It's actually very simple. Ignore just about all of the TR7manual, except for the Alpine bypass function. That piece actually can be used for a myriad of functions, besides this one. You shouldn't have to program it at all to do this, though.

A local shop did mine, i can ask if you want they took the kit that came with the deck and blew it up with m80s, well cus its useless they used a 3rd party kit that was 1/2 cm instead of 1.5 cm thick on the edges giving you the extra room you need in the 1.5 din to put a 2 din, there are no cuts and no bs. It fits perfect.
