Installation help for a newbie.

I'm new to doing this, and I'm looking for some help. I'm trying to install this receiver I bought today in my 2003 Hyundai Accent. I connected all the wires except for two blue ones and an orange one, which I didn't need for my last unit, so I assumed I wouldn't need them for this one either. I turn on the car and the unit doesn't turn on. Have I done something wrong here? The unit is a Sony CDX-GT650UI.

its hard to know without being there. can you discribe it anymore? generally the blue one without the white stripe should be connected to another. Are the red and black wires connected?

Here are the wires I have connected to their corresponding wires on the harness:

White

Green

Purple

Grey

Black

Red

Yellow

Here are the wires I left unconnected and capped:

Blue

Light blue

Orange with white stripe

Everything in my car is factory except this new receiver and the harness.

-orange is illumination i believe...? maybe the deck has power but the face is not lighting up?

-my other guess would be check the fuse on the back of the deck. (if it has one)

I checked the fuse and it's good. Should I try connecting the orange, then?

did u accidentally touch any wires? anything to the frame or anywhere...my friend did this while installing his deck and he just poped a fuse and that was it
I took care to securely crimp and cap every wire and tie them, but I'll go ahead and check the fuse box anyway.

You should only need 3 wires to get that HU to turn on.

Red / Black / Yellow

Get a volt meter set to measure DC Voltage (+20V setting on the dial)

1. Unplug the harness from H/U

2. Turn ignition to ACC/ON

3. Measure voltage across Red & Black and then Black & yellow by sticking the probes into the harness.

Both should read +12v or -12v if you flipped the probes... it doesn't matter long as its 12 .

If it does not read +12 then go back and verify your connections.

If it does read +12 for the harness then your H/U should power up when you plug it back in or it may be defective H/U.
