inpropper ported sub box

You should try putting something inside the box to take up volume like 2x4s or something to get it proberly sized/tuned. Also if you wanna seal the port up, don't use bondo. Use wood to cover it and some silicone to seal it tight. or maybe that foam stuff I see people using.

im not too sure say i was bottoming out the woofer or anything that makes a woofer pop does that damage the woofer? also on some songs it realy likes to pop like man eater and i want to F*ck.

Aren't all modern day subs bottomless design? Therefore I'm not sure how it would be making such a noise, but the fact that covering the port makes it go away is very very odd.

Amp and sub specs please? Also box size and tuning freq would be helpful if you still remember.

I want to say clipping, and that by covering the port you are increasing pressure in the box and mechanically limiting cone movement which in turn is reducing inductance near the tuning frequency, thus decreasing the load the sub pulls from the amp and resolving the clipping issue.

More info might help
