I need a DVD head unit. Can use a double din or single din flip out. flip out might actually work better for my needs. Needs to have dvd playback, good ipod control (preferably built in without an adapter sold seperately), and dual zone capability. dont need anything else. no nav etc. My factory overhead dvd wont read discs but the aux inputs work fine so instead of spending 1k plus to replace I want to go this route. Would like to keep it under 350-400. ebay is OK, used is OK as well. How does everyone feel about the dual brand. I know its cheap, but it seems to suit my needs

Get a jensen I installed one in my buddies van and it has been working fine. I do not know why so many people suggest pioneer me and my friends haven't had very good luck with them. Alpine jensen and kenwood are the only ones i have had luck with.

jensen is not even close to being in the same ball park as the alpine and kenwoods..

My friend had a jensen in his car that he got for like 450 bucks, motor was burnt after like 2 months..

After 2 months it would still be under warranty, jensen has a 1 year warranty program, send it back and get another.

Those jensen units actually look like they will do what I want them to do (which is play DVDs and control an Ipod). Does anyone know if they are dual zone capable though? I cant find it on their site but it seems like something that all car DVD heads SHOULD be able to do anyway? Id like to be able to use the ipod while the kids are watching a movie in the back seat

Stay away from Dual and Jensen. I have an Alpine IVA-d105 that works great for everything you mentioned, especially iPod control.
Go with an alpine if you can afford it but I have installed Jensen before they are pretty nice units for the money I would recommend them.

Dont get me wrong, im not saying the Jensen is better then or even as good as an alpine or kenwood. Im just saying, he only wants to spend a max of $400 Jensen is going to be the best for that money.

I dont need anything that fancy. this isnt even gonna be my main source in my truck, just an aux input for my factory nav
