Increasing watt output on 4ch amp

Well its a 4 channel amp right now I have 2 6x9 JL audio and 2 4in up front. However I'm getting 2 bigger speakers for the front so they sound better, and get louder. Right now my 4 channel alpine is doing 40 watt's each channel, but at the higher resistance It can do 50 watts. Once I upgrade my speakers I'm going to want to get more power to the whole system.

To increase the resistance to 2 ohms and to utilize the power I would run two speaker wire to one speaker on each terminal. Is this correct?
no, that just inreases the effective size of the wire.

If you're keeping the 4's and adding these larger speakers you can connect them both to the front channels of the amp. That will give you 50w per channel, but only 25w to each of the 4 front speakers.

I would consider amping only the front speakers by bridging the amp (for 100w x 2) and using the head unit to power the 6x9's.

Hmmmm That sucks. I guess I'm in the mind set of dealing with subwoofers and dual voice coils. However how would I increase the resistance, or is that rating for dealing with subs.

if u want to go to 2ohm u would actually be lowereing resistance

you could parallel the fronts and land on one channel and do the same to the rears

just run a spkr wire from the LF spkr to the RF spkr and then to amp same for the rears
