in-dash dvd/cd player with7"screen help!

i have a jensen vm9510 i got from my father, he said he couldnt get it to turn on, when i hook the ground and power wires up, all the lights come on for abotu 1 second then they turn off, but its weird, they kinda fade off no so much as just shut off, and then once it does that i can turn the car off and on and nothing happens , until i re-ground it, so lets say, i just connected the wires, i can turn the ignition on and the thing powers on then shuts off, then i turn ignition off anf on and nothing happens, then if i unconnect the ground and reconnect it , it will turn on for a second then shut off.......the fuse in the backj is good but there is an inline fuse and filter box? when i open it there is no fuse for me to take out there is a big oval thing and a yellow copper coil thing..... any suggestions?

yes, when im testing it, im hooking up Power, accessorie and ground.... so its RED YELLOW and BLACK

Sounds like your memory wire is gone bad.

... You're gonna have to connect the yellow wire * memory, accessory, whatever you wanna call it * to a constant 12v fuse in your internal fuse box.

That's should do it!

well my dad tried it directly from his battery to see if it worked, and it did same thing, what he did was twisted yellow and red together and put that on positive , then he grounded it... but i tried it thru the dash of my car, and what fusebox? the one under the hood or the on in teh cabin?

sounds to me like the unit is damaged. IF it was the acc. wire, hookin it up to the battery should of made it work. Test all ur wires with a dmm behind the dash, but most likely start looking for a new screen. O and stay away from jensen.
