You'll notice I put them right on top of the reciever I'm powering them with. That's the great thing about neodymium motors, no stray magnetism. There's only one company with an almost reckless overuse of neodymium motors. This is an Aura Sound RPM Stage 2 6000 6.5" Component set! I bought them used off someone called "bassengine303" from caraudioforum.com. For $40, it was too good to pass up!
When I recieved them, I quickly found out these speakers did something really wrong in a past life. Their cosmetic condition made me wanna cry.
For some reason, he'd stuffed putty into their pole vents, and used it to seal a tub carved out to be an enclosure. THEN he screwed the whole mess together and covered the screws in a weird glue to keep them from coming out. I pushed on the cone and the woofers didn't move at all. I thought "****, the woofers are dead! I've been had!". But I decided to clean them up and test them before making any decisions. I pulled the putty out of the pole vent and the cones returned to rest with a "pop" sound. He'd plugged the pole vent to complete the tub "enclosure" - but this created a vacuum inside the pole vent and caused a permanent bottom out! I bet he sold them to me so cheap after they lost all LFE and output. They may be a 2002 model, but Aura didn't come cheap back then, either.
Midbass response and clarity are awe inspiring. They're going in the new car, assuming I get one before 2010. =\
