I've had some Q-Form Kickpanels sittin in my closet since december and am gettin ready to install them pretty soon.......however.....what can i do to improve them?....being as they have no backing are they even worth it?......is there a way to seal em up or something?.......i jus dont want to go through the trouble of installing them and having em sound worse than my stock locations......i woulda made my own but dont have a clue how to fiberglass and shops charge an arm and a leg......any siggestions would be appreciated...thanx

read all the tutorials and learn to fiberglass and fiberglass a back for them and then fiberglass the insides of them. If you can build a box then you can fiberglass. Just read read read and read some more. then practice. shouldn't be hard.

you could also go the shitty way and just put dynomat on them to strengthen them but they still wouldn't be sealed.

i'd seal them. just stretch some material on the back, and resin and glass.

i was thinkin bout tryin that......but wouldnt i have to mold the back to my car so that it sits flush??......how would i do that?.......if i just sealed the back by stretching material on it and then glassing it it probably wouldnt sit right would it??

remove everything from the area, tape it off, lay down resin, then glass it with like 4-5 layers. let it dry. then pop off the mold and stretch fleece from the qpod to the mold and resin and glass the fleece with 4-5 layers. the cut off the extra, then sand the **** out of it, use body filler, then sand, then sand, then sand, then sand, then sand, then sand, then sand lol you get the picture. then cover them or paint them.

I mean they have step by step instructions in the construction forum. its really not hard. just read a little about how its done and you will see.

yah it doesnt sound too difficult......i'll probably give it a shot when i get the chance..........and then u were talkin bout glassin the inside as well.....do u mean just like putting a thin layer on the walls of the kick to strengthen em??

yes like 2 layers. because the q form kicks are thin. If you want to get any kind of mid bass response out of them then you will need to reenfoce them. just put it on the inside though that away you don't ruin the outside of the panels incase you want it to look stock. if you want the mirror finish you can sand the outside of the qpods and get them real real smooth and get the whole thing painted.

my old custom Q-logics;). Vifa PL's and RE Tweets. Ran the pl's off 150rms and the tweets off 40rms fully active. twas nice. and yes i know i needed to vacuum lol i had been working on the car all day and didn't want to.

Second pic looks like pinched power wire burned your door...
rarely can i say this to you but incorrect good sir. i didn't do the best cut on the dyna xtreme lol and it was a little to long. after doing that in mid july at 100+ all day in the sun and working on all 4 doors, the roof, the floor and such, i didn't care to fix it lol.

it wasn't much trouble and i got the q-logics for free while i worked at best buy. so i spent a total of 40 bucks to make em' that way.

WD-40 and a rag will clean that right up. Same thing happened to my doors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my sig says it all:(. I loved that car she was loud, drove nicely and was sound deadened like no buddies business lol. Sadly the car dies last sept. with 210k miles on it, not bad for a jimmy with no major engine work ever done.
