Hi Robahr24.
Like lashlee says the biggest difference is that the Imprint is a set and forget unit. You calibrate once and it doesn't allow you to tweak it after that.
You DONT need an optical cable to run it. It's only an option for some decks and only cd/dvd audio uses it, the rest go via Ai-Net. And yes, the one for the W505 is pretty expensive.
Some guys have very good results with it, some other don't.
The H701 is an entire different thing.
It's much harder to use, if you don't know what you are doing.
Main differences are:
1.- Imprint does all the tuning by itself. H701 need to be tuned by someone that really knows what he's doing.
2.- Imprint doesn't allow you to tweak it after the tune. H701 let's you do anything.
3.- Imprint can do front/rear/sub or 3 way active (tweeters, mids, sub). H701 will let you do a lot more. You name it. 5.1 surround, 4 way active (tweetes, mid range, mid bass, sub) add a center channel, etc.
To sume it up, the H701 is a far superior piece, but you have to know what you are doing.
On a side note, Alpine just discountinued the H701, so if you want one you better hurry up.
Jorge.
