So i really like the different look and functionality of the ida-x100 (series)

but i def want the controls of the 9887.

(trying to go active with my crossovers and what not)

would the imprint have just as much control, and sound as good if not better then the 9887?

or would the imprint be dumb and a waste of money. anddd should i just bite the bullet and get the 9887 and some audiocontrol piece to go active?

thanks

kyle

funny story... you want the imprint right??? lol did you know that with the 9887 you dont have to buy the 250 dollar imprint unit? the shop can just download the setting into the 9887. takes like 1 hour of shop time. then it's good. i would hands down go for the 87.

Not sure about the 9887 but the Imprint processor and tuning kit needed for the other HU is not $250...more like $150 for the pair if you shop around a bit.

FWIW...

Sorry i dont think you know what your talking about..

Imprint Processing unit for all alpine decks except the 9887 is 180$ on top of what your deck costs and for the deck he wants its 400$ plus shop time for install/tuning. Would probably come out to about 700$ after tax and everything.

Or you could just buy the 9887 for 400$ and an hour of shop time and save yourself over 200$.

Easy there killer, and stop throwing around the high end retail pricing to prove your point. I have had authorized alpine dealers offer me the imprint kit (both parts - sound manager and processor) for my ida-x100 for $150 shipped and found one for $95 shipped used from another member. Just because alpine claims the retail price is $180 (plus another $30) does not mean that is the price people pay. That is the suggested retail price. I am willing to bet you do not shop around until you find the SRP but rather until you find the lowest price like everyone else on the planet.

On top of that there is no guarantee that a shop can have a system fully tuned in an hour, nor is it even possible in most cases. Tuning can take days to get right.

you can get the imprint from crutchfield then install it and return it. thats what it says on there site BUT you have to pay a restocking fee. also they say that if you ever need it again you dont have to rebuy it.

the 9886 you have to get the external module because there is no "hard drive" to save the info.

but the 9887 has a "hard drive" so all you have to do is "download" the tuning stuff to your head unit.

i know, i have seen it done. sinister has a 9887, shop did it in an hour... no argument here, thats what it is.

Do the Imprint features of either the 9887 or the xDA-100 (or 305) with the Imprint box allow saving multiple Imprint profiles?

I have a Z3 'vert and it has 3 very different acoustic profiles:

1. With a hardtop on

2. No hardtop, but with the cloth top up

3. Top down (not that audio is very good in any case with the top down)

So you understand the desire for multiple profiles....
