Well after getting my new alt installed, (its only 160 AMPS, not at idle), but I can acually notice a difference in volume. With my windows down, and I crank it, it will acually make my head and my hears hurt and sends a very weird nerve pain all through my body. Before, even with my windows open, it never hurt. Now all I need is a new amp.

ON a related topic, does anybody know how many dB's is noticiable by the ear? Like how many decibal change can you notice by ear?

I'll assume that the 160a unit was a replacement for a weaker OEM alternator?

Higher voltage (provided it is within the acceptable range of the amp in question) always makes for happier amplifiers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Glad to hear you're pleased with the upgrade //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsup.gif.3287b36ca96645a13a43aff531f37f02.gif

It depends on the frequency and such (ears are more sensitive in certain regions and less sensitive in others), but 1db is the smallest difference in loudness typically detectable by the human ear. In certain regions (like midrange), someone with trained ears may be able do detect differences in the .25db region.

In general, it takes a difference of 6db - 10db to be audibly perceived as "twice as loud".
