if you had 15 grand...

yea maybe if you live down south or in cali where weather never changes. i live in new england and weather will reduce that 150-200k to about 60-120 k til major problems kick in. Now lets say that this used car already has 40,000 miles on it since it is 2-3 years old, that will leave me with around 20-80,000 miles. Now 20,000 a year will give me about 4 years maybe more and then "major" problems kick in. The warranty will probably be gone depending on what car I get. I dont want to have to keep worrying about my car while im in college and so the best thing would be to get a brand new car with a warranty on it and less than .5k miles on it.
Im not sayin that gettin a used car is bad or anything. Im just the type of person that likes brand new things, unless I came across a ridiculously good deal.

well i live in buffalo and our weather is much more aggressive

than yours... and no hondas i know have problems at 60k miles...

A scion Tc will cost u at least 17k sticker price plus taxes, so you looking at close to 18-19k.

My buddy at work( I work for Roseville Toyota/Scion) just bought a new TC, sticker price was 17k plus an extra 2k for body kit, spoiler and exhaust and thats with out discount.

I'd rule out the TC unless u want to spend about 20k.

The corolla's are nice but depends on which one u get. You wont get fully loaded for less than 17k, and then even if u can talk them into it... u have to figure in taxes and what not.

I'd say look into a Chevy Colorado, or something big like that since u live in Boston... but thats my opinion.

I live right below Michigan....whether here hits both extremes; below 0 in the winter and over 100 in the summer. My '88 Bonneville made it to 185k before the ****** started to go (only problem I ever had with it), my g/f Explorer was ~190k before it's ****** started to go (again, only major problem with it), and my '86 LeSabre was over 150k and I never had any problems with it (other than that car that blew up next to it).

Honestly, you should be fine.

And if you want a new car, that's fine. Just remember; if you spend $15k on a new car you are basically throwing $7.5k out the window for no good reason. And other than mileage, $15k will get you a better used car than what you could get for $15k new (IMO)

im really leanin towards a Mazda3 i or an s. im not goin to be gettin this car for a while, maybe sometime in the spring/summer of 05. by then the 04's and 05's will be about a grand or two cheaper since thats when the new models come out.

on another note, do you think a dealer would take off stock wheels and there value off msrp and then install some of my own rims that i buy of an online store/ebay. i should just ask the dealer but maybe someone here knows.

def 05 Rolla...the S type comes with a bodkit-all you need to do is drop it
Lol so wrong... the XRS comes in a bodykit. It goes LE, S, XR, XRS. S is the 2nd lowest model. You can add the BK for $$.

Type S's come in Auto and Stick... Im not sure where u got that info. The only none automatic Toyota offers is the X-Runner. Every other car comes with the option.

If your going with a Corolla, go with the XRS... you seriously will not be unhappy.

fvck a Roth IRA...im still in HS and this is goin to be a car for my college years
So the question is... who is paying for it... mommy and daddy or you? If your paying it... mad props to you.... but if u are u would think you would be more wise with your money and do a Roth IRA.... but who knows....

Buy a used car, not from a dealership(to much of a mark up), but a nice used car.

definitely used.....especially since alot of manufacturers offer warranty with them...the used rsx would be sweet....

if u gotta have new...the new chevy cobalt is pretty sweet, can even be had supercharged (though i doubt that would be 15k)....

the mazda in ur selection would be my choice...i loved our 2.5ltr v6 w/5spd manual ****** 1998 626lx......i actually miss that car.

but like what was mentioned above...buying new means ur taking the hit with the depreciation....instead of cashing in on someone else's loss by buying used.
