Ever since i added an amp to my door speakers iv'e had nothing but problems. It started off with 4 6x8 pioneer speakers that could only handle 35 rms. I had a 60 rms amp installed by best buy and those speakers blew the first day lol... So i got 2 pairs of hifonics Zeus speakers rated at 85 rms. But i dont understand they dont seem to be any louder than they were just running off the Head unit? I set gains and all that. Also the sound quality is..... not too good. Almost worse than they sounded off the HU. The amp is a clarion and the HU is a jvc Arsenal. Any input on why they dont sound any better on an amp would be nice. I checked best buys installation job and everything seems to be installed perfectly. Honestly im about to sell this amp and just run the speakers off the HU. Thanks for any advice.

does the JVC have a HPF?..is it on?....how loud do you listen to your music?...Past 3/4 volume? Does the amp have HPF?...on?...subsonic Filter?...settings?
I like my music loud. Right around 3/4 volume. it has a hpf that i have set at mid. The amp also has HPF. only the amp has a LPF which i dont have on.

It could be the amps not giving you enough power, and you have it cranked up to the stage of Clipping/being Distorted??? Whats the gain level se at on the amp??What Clarion amp?Clarion amps are usually not very powerful amps,The older APA amps were pretty good yet the newer amps are not but clean at low levels sounding.

**** some one on here recomended it to me. But mabey i should just bridge the front two speakers and have no no speakers in the back? I might try that =o. How exactly do i do that? Like bridge the left speaker to the front terminals on the amp then the right ones to the rear terminals or what?

Easiest way to bring that amps power level up,is to just add a set of 4ohm tweeters up front, and maybe some in the rear,to run that amp at 2ohms stereo. They dont have to be expensive you know..Quantem tweets are decent for a low price..might be all you need to bring your loud sound up in the front for cheap.. I know I wouldnt have recommended that amp for you..Db level is too low for me..I like 100 Db and more, like a SStream Rubicon for new.I know the Hifonics Components that I believe you have/gotten if I remember, are pretty decent for the money, as I have used.Try a set of tweets and run 2ohms stereo up front, or look into getting some more power/better amp.IMO:santa:
