guys sorry for such a dumb question im new to this! But i have one 12 and i have Tsunami wires which one is silver and the other blue and they are twisted around each other in a rubber but which one is positive and negative between the blue and the silver? Thank you so much please bear with me!

use a battery

If you have a speaker and the terminals are no longer marked, you can do a simple test to determine which terminal is positive (+) and which is negative (-). This test is useful for midrange/midbass/subwoofers, but not for tweeters.

Use a 1.5V battery (AA, C, D) and connect the (+) terminal on the battery to one terminal of the speaker, and connect the (-) terminal to the other terminal of the speaker.

If the cone moves OUT, then the battery is connected "properly," i. e., the (+) terminal of the battery is connected to the (+) terminal of the speaker, and the (-) terminal of the battery is connected to the (-) terminal of the speaker.

If, however, the cone moves IN, the battery has been connected "backwards," i. e., the (+) terminal of the battery is connected to the (-) terminal of the speaker, and the (-) terminal of the battery is connected to the (+) terminal of the speaker

As for which color out of the blue or silver is +/-. Thats really up to you. I usually use the blue as + & the silver as -. However if your trying to find out on your sub whick is + & -, then you can do as stated above.

If the wire isn't connected to anything yet then you may use whichever color you like for positive and the other conductor for negative.

If the wire is already connected to the sub but not the amp follow jdawg's instructions.

If the wire is already connected to the amp but not the sub see which color is connected to the positive output terminal and connect it to the sub accordingly then do likewise for the negative amp output to the sub's inout.

how do you indentify the postive and negative on a speaker wire? I forgot if I used the wire w/ letters as + or -, and I can't use Jdawg's method since the speaker is already behind the panels and I wouldn't be able to see if the cone comes out or in.

thanks
