Idea of loudness w/o a meter?

I just finished putting in the new MJ18 today, so now I'm running an MJ 18-M and an MJ 18 8 ohm (I'll be upgrading and switching out the old 8 ohm with another 'M' soon). I haven't heard any REALLY loud systems in person so I don't have a reference point or anything, and I don't know of anyone with a TL anywhere near me, and I just wanted to get an idea of how loud my shit is getting. Is there anyway I could guess based on flex/air movement/anything?

To me, it sounds pretty **** loud, I mean, its literally painful for the first couple minutes of it each separate time I listen to it, but i don't have any clue of how loud it really is

Also, if anyone has a TL in the sacramento area I'd appreciate it if I could get it done

I'll get vids sometime soon if anyone wants, I have some decent flexing of doors/windows/roof/trunk/little bit of dash, but again, no real reference point

oh and total is about 1200 rms, on subs rated for about 1200 total, but keep in mind they are ~94db sensitivity also

hmm...I'd say its definitely uncomfortable/a little painful at least for the first few minutes of it especially on heavy bass songs, and then once your ears adjust to it a little its not too bad eardrum-wise, but yea hard to breathe/swallow

I was tuning it with them facing me, got it to over rated rms well before clipping, and left it ~10-15% over rms. Then I closed the trunk, got into the car, and hit play, and I had to pause it at first because it hurt, then got more used to it as I turned the volume down a little and slowly brought it back up. Idk, you have to yell as loud as you can for someone in the passenger seat to have any idea what you're saying...I couldn't even get my friends attention a few times when were driving, don't know if that indicates anything.

yes it does. More power =more loudness other than more volume=more distortion (which hurts my ears) because of less power

Well, it can give some idea, but yea not gonna tell you with any certainty whether its loud

Kinda wierd because I have mixed impedence right now, the new one (4 ohm) is rated at 700 rms, and seeing ~800 (based on AC volts), the older one (8 ohm) is rated at 600 rms, and seeing ~400.

Amp is rated to do 1700 at 2 ohms, seeing a nominal 2.67 ohms. Its a bxi2607, some people say they're a little overrated, but I've never experienced this one to be.

I didn't make this thread to say I'm loud, or to ask everyone how many db's I'm hitting exactly (or even very closely), because obviously thats impossible..I'm just wondering, I honestly couldn't tell you whether I'm closer to 130 or 150 (I'm sure I'm nowhere near 150)...so I'm kind of asking...what should 130-135-140-145-150 feel/look/sound like, so I can try to compare it to mine at least in some way.

whose being an idiot? i gave u my estimate. depending on what u have... not that u have 2 subs on a 4channel amp bridged with 12gage wiring. if u say ur shit makes it hard to breath and you can scream at ur friend in the passanger seat my guess is 135+/- 10dbs... i changed it from 150 cuz its late and idk wtf i was thinking
