ID8 vs RE8

I'm looking at both these subs. I don't got much room to play with, maybe 0.5 cbft. Mounting depth is also an issue. Looking to to use two of these, if I got the room I will go ported. 200-300WRMS per sub. I'm wondering which would be the better overall sub. Other suggestions are welcome.

the ID8 is more of a midbass, whereas the RE8 is more of a sub.
It's also not as deep as the ID8, which is a big deal. I'm very limited in room seeing as how I'm placing these where the stock subs go, it's not going to be fun getting anything to fit in there. lol

It also seems the RE8's will get louder? They also on require 0.5 cbft to be ported? How much power can these things handle? I do not have an amp yet so I'll get whatever is needed, not looking to use more than 600WRMS though.

I have the RE8 for a while, swap it for the ID8. ID8 is more musical. Hit as low (depend on your install). The ID8 can handle a lot of power. I am running 1 ID8 8ohm with a Alpine PDX 1.600. I plan to install another one. If you listen to more hip hop and Rap, RE8 would be great choice. I listen to wide range of music, I like the ID8 better. I don't agree that ID8 is more of a midbass. The old IDQ8 yes, ID8V3 is as much as sub as any other 8" out there. Just ask these guys.

That's pretty much what I figured //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. I mostly listen to hip hop/rock. With only doing 2 8's I'd more like to get as much output as I can.

The ID8 can handle a lot of power. Give them 300RMS it'll be as loud.

I will also say the Old IDQ8 was more of a Midbass but the new ID8 is a 8" subwoofer

You can pull the plastic cover off the back & gain like 1/4-1/2"

I went for (2) RE8's Ported 1.2^@35Hz

Its a Truck Box I had for my Ram That Held a 12"IDMAX

I sealed the opening & mounted the RE8's & Port in the bottom..

It rails for such a small setup

they are getting 180w each @ 2Ohms..

My Wife Loves Justin Timberlake & it dominates in the Alero

So Have Fun Keep us posted..

Hmmmmm... tempting. I'll have to see if I can get them to fit or not. They do also come in D2 and D4 ohm versions which makes it easier to find an amp for them.

Well the ID8 spec does said 50-300W RMS. If you blow it, they have to replace it under warranty. RE8 spec said 175W RMS. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif They are both great subs, and both companies have great customer service.

ID8 is a subwoofer not a midbass - IDQ 8 is a subwoofer that can play up to ~1.5khz.

RE8 is a cheap subwoofer (origionaly designed by clairion iirc) and its off the shelf parts.

the ID8 will sound better and should get just as loud but is a little bigger than the RE8.

hope that makes your panties feel better.
