Being able to drop an amp to a really low impedance and sacrificing efficiency is overrated, imo.
Nice amp, I'd rather have that than 2 20.1's.
Agreed!! Unless you're running a comp and need every drop of power you can get for a split second and don't care about drawing 150-200% of normal current for a few seconds. Daily I totally agree, why stress an amp by overdriving the circuits, just to get alittle more power just to say your running it at .175.

It's true the 40.1's don't go as low and they aren't made to do that, most dB Drag guys have 1 ohm or 1.4 ohm coils, so they need to strap there and make Max Power there, this applies for 12 or 16 volt systems!

powerful mofo's. I've dropped the 40's pretty low for burps and all is well. I can't hardly run a 40 at 1 ohm for daily, it's STILL too loud. (gains on the floor and 1 rca pulled) A 20.1 is a perfect daily amp IMO.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I have heard .5 and magic smoke comes out of them...
just what I have heard though...
While you might have heard they dont like low ohm loads, I doubt you have heard about much magic smoke. I have tested numerous 40.1's personally at ohm loads ranging from 0.0875 - 4 ohms on 12 and 16 volts and I have NEVER seen smoke of any kind. The protection in these amps is so good, almost too good, that I dont see how you could blow one up unless it was a factory defect or your own fault.

PS. I run my 4 40.1's strapped at 1 ohm off 1 12 volt battery.

good god, that ohm load on 16v ???
