I know what you mean Gauntlet,I look through and am thinking "ok, well I need to sort through these to do my mod-nessing" and I just giveup because it is honestly hopeless, too many people thinking they aren't clogging the forum, too many starting fights, and too many thinking they know it all(fyi I openly say I don't know much), its just really.... sad, and not meant to be funny, but it is honestly a real downer, when I came here just a few months back most threads I couldn't understand because they were actually intelligent, and the lounge had barely any action.

Time will be the best helper.

Great Idea!!! Then no one can search anything, and there will be another 40000000 of the same threads that people are pissed about in the first place. And the same people will still make the same threads that piss people off.

I vote no... I say Do Not delete all the threads, because of a few ASShats' meaningless dribble......

 

If you want to delete posts, I say take a day, Get all the mods (or the ones that want to clean up), then they each picks a topic section and go through and delete all the Bullsh!t threads where people are posting crap...

 

There is a Ton of great info, by great people here.... I'd be a crime to waste it all and start over...

 

When I 1st found this place and logged on... I read for days before I even posted the 1st time... I wanted to see what was already covered, what the resident knowlege base was and how people responded... I learned a few things, just by reading...

This Smullen is how it should be. Only if all the newbs could follow his lead and do exactly what he said he did.... the forum will be more funfull, and enjoyable.

I will say the same, as I am really here everyday, and on 4 other forums. I just read. I can and will learn that way. I do have to go through pointless post, but that is what happens on any forum that is set. You guys never hear from me as I dont know enough to post good replies, The sad thing is I get the most out of it from the people that complain about about the pointless post. If people stop answereing the pointless post then they will die. I for one learn alot here and love this forum.

mods need to be able to delete pointless post quick, but it really looks like they dont have that power.

Also, I saw we create a warning system....

Where the mods warn someone for blatant off topic or mis use of the board...

Such as posting way off topic crap in areas other than ""Off Topic""

Intentional Whoring or Jacking of threads...

Intentionally starting sh!t or Flame wars.. (maybe we need a Flame Section, I've seen it on a few boards. Keep all the shit to there, so no one has to read it that is not interested.

As people users get warned, add them to a list with name date warned and maybe link to a thraed they were warned about...

For a place to keep all this info on the Warned list

Create a New TOPIC area where everyone can read and only mods can post...

After a user is warned a certian amount of time he is I banned...

Everyting has petential problems, but I think it could work..

I followed his lead...however the time between discovery and first post was like 2 days - and I'm addicted to this stuff...

1) when I get ready for school - I jump back and forth from ironing and the forums

2) when I get home from school (on days I don't have to be at work right after)

3) MAYBE at work since I'm a computer programmer and don't really fool around when I'm at work

4) Before I go to sleep

But let me say it's been very rewarding and I appreciate you guys' help, especially since I don't know anyone who knows stuff about cars let alone car audio.

Mostly what I have seen is punks with no social skills in real life come on here and stir up a hornets nest. They think that since they have access to a computer and the Internet it is their right to act like buttplugs, and thanks to the anonimity of the Internet they can do much more than they would in real life because they don't have to worry about someone getting fed up with their crap and kicking their teeth down their throat.

Other than the terms of service that everyone ignores when they sign up, is there somewhere on here where the forum "rules" are posted? Is there a "lifeguard" on duty to enforce the rules (hopefully someone with enough mod/admin power to lock someone's account if needed)?

Another possiblity would be something along the lines of a probationary membership period of a week or two, to force the newbs to look around, use the search function, figure out who not to piss off and generally figure out the expected decorum of this forum. That would limit a lot of the idiots that just come here to stir up trouble and possibly limit the number of worthless repeat threads that seem to pop just up as soon as the original thread makes its way off of page 1.

There is currently 10 Moderators on this forum.

I hate to say it, but only a handful are active.

Moderators can currently move threads to their correct forums, and to delete them if need be. We can also make threads Sticky. Moderators are also able to discussion issue's in the Moderator Backroom and are able to suggest some sort of action for disruptive members. We are currently able to do nothing in the Lounge ... Moderator powers are currently not enabled in the Lounge.

As for the "Do they want to help?" part ... I'll speak for myself. Sure, I'll help. I help everyday. I'm here everyday. Honestly, I spend more time on here then I should, and I don't think I don't hear about it. Think I'm tired of seeing the same BS every single day? You bet. Doesn't bother me much. I just reply and carry on reading through the new threads. Now some of the very, very Off Topic and immature threads begin to bother me. Posting **** links, refering to drugs, whatever. Some may argue that the Lounge is for the OT stuff, so who cares, let them talk about whatever they want. Well, hate to break it to you, but yes, there are minors and children on the board and view the board daily. Besides, usually those types of threads immediately / progress into breaking something in the Terms of Service.

The CarAudio.com Administrator is around. He checks in and browses they forum just like every one of us, carrying out whatever action he needs to do. Don't think he is inactive just because he doesn't post. He's around more then you think.

If I missed some other questions, just put up a list and I'll do my best to answer them from a Moderator point of view.
