I'm new to the car stereo world and I wish to learn as much as I can about it.

My question is which company uses which motor?

What sub is powered by which motor (e.g. TC2K, TC9, 3HP and others I've left out)? And how to determine the difference.

I'm sorry if I sound like a complete newb and if there is already a thread about this (searched couldn't find anything).

I'm just trying to increase my knowledge on the subject.

read books and forums. LDC is a great book i hear. Other than that just read around the forums. Its not all subs and motors.

Yeah I've been reading heaps of forums. But doesn't other companies use those motors?

The reason your hear about the TC motors is because they do OEM work for other companies. That's about the only reason why it's brought up so much.

The motors you hear about the most are ones that are used by many different companies (TC is the best example here.) The reason for this is because one motor can be attached to a lot of different baskets and fitted with many different soft parts.

You don't hear about most companies motor's or their names (if they even have any) because they are all pretty much different in terms of interchangeability.
