As I recall, he indicated that they went lower in frequency, not louder.

Qts is a bit high on the L7 and would reach lower in frequency in sealed enclosure compared to a vented enclosure, especially if it's tuned relatively high.

Some Sony subs do offer a decent SQ, even the Xplod models. Just have to pick the right parameters.

that can be said for almost all subs. That is why it is important to know what kind of ported box the OP is running. A prefab would def. mean that the box is tuned too high.

l7's are crazy loud, but I just hooked up my sonys to the kicker amp. they hit so much lower.

so I need to build a new box for the l7's or build a box for the sonys so I can have 2 12" l7 3 or 4 sony xplods. that way I can have the high bass from the l7's and the really low notes with the sonys.

Please don't do this. It will only complicate things further.

Just build a box that better suits the L7s. Tune it low if that's what you like.
