More likely the juice had gone bad from the broken seal and it had probably been sitting outside in the heat for god knows how long before it was put in the cooler.
Basically the juice was rotting and you were dumb enough to drink it.
Why? That would be stupid and he couldnt win. They put those safety seals on for a reason and it advises on the bottle to not consume if seal is broken and to refrigerate after opening. He seen it was broken, he knew something was wrong, and he still made the choice to drink it. He could have taken it back for a refund or an exchange.
