Already Being Used....
So i know its nothing to really brag about but a customer had me hook up some new gear he bought and this is what he was listening too... hacked into a 12" ported box lolz. For a little extra i had to do with his amp(took me about 5 minutes) i told him he could just give me this sub.

The old school MTX 8000 15. No spider sag, no rips or tears in the surround/cone... just a little scuffed up. Gonna throw it on the DMM to make sure its reading out right on the voice coil. Seems fine tho.

So Im going to build a box for it, anyone have exprerience with these on the kind of boxes they like? I had some of the 6000s eons ago but never these. Itll go in the trunk of a caddy SLS so plenty of room ( prefer not the whole trunk tho).

looked on google, but even the link to mtx archive didnt show box specs. Also it showed a vented motor structure, and this one is not. Maybe because its just the SVC 4 ohm model? Any help is appreciated!

Im gonna touch up the rim where you see a little silver, but figured this would look a little better than all the scuffs/dis-coloring

I had a pair of 12's and they got pretty **** loud man.
ya im just hoping itll get low, and what kind of box specs it requires. Like i said it was basically free so im not complaining either way //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

you could easily recone that if you want a diff softpart config.

Lol I just sold the thunder 8000 15 svc 4 I was using as a winter beater. The one you have is an 8154a. The models with the aluminized cones are denoted with an a at the end and don't have vented motors. There are manuals in mtx's archives for that one. I had my 8000 in 3 cubes at 31hz with 4 in pvc ports and it played very well down to about 22hz and up to about 60-65hz. From the trunk with sub up ports to the side I managed a 135.7db sealed on the dash and 134 meca style at 38hz without really trying to move anything around. That was on 500rms before rise. They have 2.5in 8 layer coils, so my amp was really just tickling it.

manual- just follow links for 8154A: http://www.mtx.com/mobile/support/154/Archives/show.html

This is what I did with mine:

That's a good sub. I have one in my Honda but I think its an 8500 in a prefab box. I have a kicker 400.1 pushing it and it hits hard.
