so you just sent this person some money and you didnt win any auction.

hmm, and this person has had no transactions in 2 years.

it sounds like you could easily end up screwed in this.

hopefully you dont but it could definately end up that way

But good luck and hopefully you get them.. I personally wouldn't have done that with a person with such a low feedback rating.. Not to mention that since you didn't actually 'win' the auction, you won't be protected by eBay.. I'd have him cancel this auction, make a 'Buy it Now' for $385, and do it that way..

I'd cancel my PayPal payment to him right away and have him set up a buy it now as cyantist said.

If he didn't immediatly end the auction when you paid him then you might get screwed.

PayPal sends an email to the seller as soon as you send the money.

Like a minute delay at most.

Be careful!

I've only communicated with the person via email. I sent an email last night requesting the person to end the auction early and this is the reply i recieved.

Hello,

I am willing to CLOSE the auction early for the amount of $385.00 Please send to my Pay pal account and I will end it for you. These speakers are very nice and you will not be disappointed. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks...

Regards,

NR

I received the email Wednesday, May 3, 2006 7:51 AM, but didn't check it until just a little while ago. I just sent the payment and i don't expect the person to be online at this time, thus a normal individual would not be. -no disrespect-

I usually have a gut feeling when something is off but i didn't. Do you think i should wait until morning to see if the payment was accepted and the auction was ended? I really want these suckers and it seemed legit to me, but then again I'm only 18 and don't know anything... not sarcastic i'm really being serious

Sure, wait til the morning I guess, but if you haven't heard anything by say noon and the auction still hasn't ended, then I would cancel the PayPal payment and tell him to set up the BIN like I suggested before.. In the future I would suggest to do it this way just to keep things as safe as possible.. Anyone who's legit would have no problem doing this.. There are lots of people who prey on people like yourself looking for good deals on expensive electronics.. For example, just do a search for an Alpine IVA-D310 one of these days.. A good 25-50% of them are scams.. I can't believe eBay lets ppl get away with this crap, but what do they care? At least they get their fees.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

My personal opinion is that you've done something very foolish. The seller should have canceled all bids and setup a BIN option or he should have discontinued the listing altogether and go with another one with you as the only authorized bidder or with a BIN that you can use immediately after the listing goes active.

The listing shows the item to be in Colorado so by my clock it is 02:21 MST and you're likely right, the seller probably isn't online currently.

You just might be okay and the seller is truly willing to sell for $385 and then again - a big ticket item from a seller with sketchy eBay history (and none as a seller there) and some unorthodox behavior from both the seller and yourself....smells like a bad deal all the way around.

Just as a bidder is (legally) obligated to complete the transaction by paying for any item(s) bid upon and won the seller is (again, legally) obligated to sell the item to the winning bidder upon receipt of payment in full. If a bidder puts up enough fuss and files a Non-Performing Seller report that seller can potentially have their account suspended indefinately and if they go poking around thoroughly enough (eBay and PayPal are the same company, you know) they can find that the item was sold to you outside of the eBay process and your account could be suspended to.

From the get-go this wasn't a particularly bright ideal on your part, fella. Good luck getting your gear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Now, if you want to talk about robbing eBay, look at these two deals I just did:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9515151988&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9515153876&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

2 IVA-D300 brains for $250 shipped.. I had the guy set up the BINs exactly how I suggested to you, but also took some extra precautions such as having him take a pic of them with my name on a piece of paper, etc.. You can't be too safe these days when everyone seems like their out to rob everyone else..
