I quit DQ today :/

should have handeled it professionally and not like a jerk.
Well considering that Iam in pain and I never asked for a day off, but when I need 3 hours, not even a full day off, they say that I can't, so being pissed off and hurting usually results in a fowl ending

Wow dude, **** it up, for real. Considering I live not 1 house from a DQ, I know most the people that work there. They are all young and most are women. So..................basically that means that women were doing the job you were doing.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
DQ Grill & Chill, not one woman works in the back. I cook, round up all the trash cans, bag up all the trash pack it out to the dumpster which is pretty good ways from the store, throw it in the dumpster usually making about 6 trips with 2-3 50 gallon trash bags packed full with trash, then have to change the 7 outside trash cans that are even bigger than the inside cans. After doing that I then have to walk around the parking lot picking up cigarette butts. After doing all that, it's when I get to do the "girly part" by washing all the dishes used, stack up all the trash cans, sweep and mop the entire kitchen, and the final task is taking four 5gallon buckets full of grease and empting them in the grease trap by the dumpster.

I have never seen a woman do my job, and the women that take my place can only wash dishes, clean the parking lot, and sweep and mop the kitchen because they are not able to lift the trash bags enough to put get them out of the tall cans.

i didnt know penis was allowed to work at the dq //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Read above, the women are prolly all you see because they work "frontline" which handles orders, and ice cream. Men cook and do all the other stuff.

/*****ing

Well the one by my house is just your small ice cream shop. We dont have all that other stuff, besides them cooking hotdogs. The rest is ice cream and making cakes and shit like that. However you are still young and should be able to do that job. After 3 months you should have started to gotten used to the work. Really all that stuff you mentioned isnt that hard. I mean just pace yourself. I wouldnt be *****ing about that kind of work, then again I got used to it back in the day. Just watch how you lift and you should be ok. If I was to ***** about anything, it would probably be about the pay.

Would be nice if I could pace myself, I have so much to do, and only get 4 1/2 to 5 hours to do all of it. It takes me over 1 hour to do all the dishes that accumilated since they open at 5am.

I am still pretty young yes, but I have all kinds of problems with my knee and back. My right knee for instance has some kind of disease where calcium builds up right below my knee cap and creates a hard, bone like, thing that pushes up on my knee cap and hurts. My left knee is alright most of the time, however when I am trying to get up off the floor or trying to lift something really heavy at a weird angle, my knee pops out of place and hurts like hell, but atleast it goes back in pretty quickly.

I should have kept my previous job, typing all day. However I found that job boring, and not active enough. Then work at DQ and iam then too active. Maybe the next job I find will be just right.

hmm try mcdonalds and dont' get stuck on *****work. Most of the time if you dont' act like a punk they'll put you upfront. If not just bust your *** on table, if you can stay there it's really easy. Once you get used to table it's one of the least stressful positions, especially assembling. In my area Mcdonalds is a bit easier to work at than other fast foods. They make more money, have more employees, and are easier to advance in. Granted it's still a bit dead end, but shit, it's better than STAYING at bare end minimum wage. Or try your local DMV or vet clinic, library, easy work there too.

Yea so I was working at the DQ last night and I dropped a vanilla cone on the ground. I proceeded to pick it up, but I used too much effort with my back and now it hurts really bad. I called in and quit the next day.

To all the people out there busting your *** 50+ hrs a week doing labor. Major props to you. I just hope you don't sit in a cubicle or stand in a line in a factory using one hand to pull a lever.

I used to work 55hrs, but got cut back to 40. I miss my overtime. Automotive! FTW

Agreed, He's totally coming off as a puss in his post, WTF ever happened to 90 day probation at jobs.

On another note, fast food jobs care less about you, theres hundreds of other teenagers to take the shit work that you think is so hard.

Iam glad I quit, I thought that was pretty obvious...

Yeah, I regret ever going into the fast food business. As soon as they get that new data center built, iam heading over there since I have already been through all the homeland security checks before I quit the job I had at the old data place.

Starts off at around $8/hour so I should be set there. Plus they will pay for your education if it is something to do with computers, which is what I want to do.

Amen to you!!! I've worked in metal fabrication/Maintenance for 13 years now!! A real "easy" week is 50 hours. There was a string there on time that we worked 28 days straight for AT LEAST 12 hours. I'm also in a management training course for 20 hours a week, And trying to earn an industrial engineering

3 months and a little back pain? Give me a break!!! Props to the hard working members of this forum.

Go work for Lowe's. He-man contractors ask you to loud 20-40 bags of 80 lb concrete while they laugh and drink beer.
Yeah I did that... Not for Lowes, but my boss would tell me to go load like 30 bags of 80lb quikrete mortar mix in 90 degree weather, and have him *****ing at me on the walkie talkie to hurry up because there are 5 angry old people waiting in line to get their lottery tickets checked and about 5 more people waiting for me for returns. At the same time having people coming up to me asking me where they can find a certain screw, then when I finally walk in to show them where the screw is there also is another line of angry customers waiting in line just for sales on the other side of the counter... Yeah it wasn't always the bad, but 50% of the time it was.

All for 6.25 an hour baby //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/greedy.gif.5a53e6246569d7ab79867170f3b06629.gif

Go get yourself a nice office job somewhere. Anything retail BLOWS, you'll prolly never get the hours you want, and will probably get treated like crap. (Most of the time)

You definitely should not have just quit like that though... I regret doing that after I quit Jewel.
