I paid a visit to the conway freight depot today, just to pick up a couple things

according to the site the BL curve must be pretty nasty. Honestly i wanna know what these do on the lows. ive been thinking about getting a couple LMS ultras but i dont really wanna spend that kinda cash if i dont have to. They should have used a 4" coil though.

So would you have used an 8" OD spider with a 4" coil? Thats about all you can do with a 12 spoke basket. Ask RE Destroyer owners what happens when you do that. Im pretty sure this is why Rusty didnt use a 4" coil on his stuff.

Just because a sub has a larger diameter voice coil doesnt make it better, not even close.

Or... Rusty could tool a new basket... whats $70,000 when you can have a 4" coil?

Edit: Not trying to argue with ya man, not at all. There's just a whole lot more to it than adding surface area for better heat dissipation.

I played a song with a note around 30HZ, and a couple things sub 20 HZ just to see what it could do, and i am impressed.

im gonna give it a little time before i let it rip down low, but as far as the sound quality, its much more musical than the MT's were.

Is it louder though? WTF mate

So basically your saying a 3" coil is no better than a 2.5" coil. anytime you can spread the excess heat over a larger surface area then the more efficient it can be. Now i am sure he has this sub setup to work great with a 3" coil, im not bashing the sub by any means. Hell i might be interested in it. I agree on what you are saying though as far as the basket is concerned.

something i heard, but am not sure of, doesnt a 4 inch coil also decrease efficency and make the MMS much much higher?

im sure that it has its benefits, but there are also some downsides to it as well

Depends...

Is a 2 layer 3" coil made from 22ga round aluminum better than an 8 layer 19ga flatwound 2.5" coil when it comes to heat dissipation?.. negative. It just depends, you know....

Who cares! :p

This shit is neither here nor there...

Is it louder!!?!?!

fuck yeah its louder.

It was louder than the MT's were, and they arent even broken in at all.

the MT's got louder over time, and the Level 5's are louder than the MT's were after they broke in, and i didnt drive it into clip, meaning that there is more potential.

Most important.....do i like em.

hell yes.

It was shooting more glass in the parking lot, and in my lap while tearin shit up at wal mart.

even the security guard got involved.........he told me that he doesnt want to hear that shit in his parking lot anymore.

i said okay, mister walton. have a nice day.
