Hey, I know alot of you guys get aggravated with ppl saying "what should i buy to hit 200dB?" and stuff like that, but i have a legit question (i think?) lol. I have a 10" Memphis Power Reference DVC and i have it in a sealed 1.5 c.f. box (i know its kinda big...i dont know what i was thinking when building it) memphis reccomends .75 sealed box or 1 cf ported. Anyway, whats the best amp and wiring combo (series, parallel, etc) i should use? I get confused about ohms and stuff, and DVC kinda complicates it more. I thought i understood ohms, but i guess not! lol. The reason i am asking what amp to use is b/c the box is like bigger than what it should be....rms for the speaker is 250 watts, max is 500. ANY help you can spare would be greatly appreciated! thankz

ps i know that speaker can handle more power than 250..lol...what do you think?

I am asuming that the sub is dual 4 ohm VCs, so find an amp that will push like 300 RMS at 2 ohm and you are done. Wiring diagrams are on this forum, use the search button.

Okay, well, I'll spend as much on an amp as needed. I don't know if I'm "p*ssing in the wind" with my set-up or not, lol. But Im not sure if I should expect too much from one 10" Memphis PR sub in a 1.5 sealed box. Just let me know what's the best amp. I dont care if i blow the sub or not, cuz i'll buy better! lol...thankz

if you don't care about subs blowing, then you might as well sell it off now and get yourself another sub.

Take care of your equipments and they will take care of your musical needs too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol, well, i guess thats not EXACTLY what i meant. I guess i'm just saying that if they suggest 200rms and i push a little more than that, and eventually the coils burn up, well i won't care as long as it was worth it... i'd just like to see what happens, maybe it'll surprise me and I might like it...who knows... lol

I know what you are trying to say. Buy a big amp, use it on a shitty sub, when it blows, buy a nice sub to match it.

IMO I think you should buy something that does 600RMS, and then you will have more options when you decide to buy new subs.

JBL600.1 or the RF 550S, those are cheap amps for what they can do. Both are underrated, IMO. If you go ported, you might wanna find an amp with a sub sonic filter.

Friend of mine has 12" PR's and he's putting 300rms to each of them (Coustic 600e is the amp). He also has much more air space in his sealed box than they recomend.....so far so good....but so far has only been about 1 month lol.

yea i was looking at the JBL 300.1, im either going with it or the rockfos....w/e is cheaper, lol, thankz

yea i have a bigger box then suggested like 40% bigger....and im looking to power bout 300rms....lol
