They were so over damped from being in much smaller chambers than they were designed for. They had a +6db peak at 70-100hz. When they hit high bass notes, it was terror. It was loud as fukc with very little wattage. But they couldn't hit lows worth a damm, and they were 15's.

My audio technix 15's make the car rumble on the lows, but the highs are gone......those kick drums just don't hit anymore.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

will a ported box help much? I don't think it will personally......//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

My AQ's hit the high notes quite well. Ported in 1 setup and 6th order for the other.

Could try the AT's in a higher tuned ported box, but a lot of the current subs seem to roll off rather quickly around 50Hz or so...

I have realized that my stratos are best described as "bottom heavy".

What causes that? heavy cone? stiff suspension? etc???
