alright well i lost all my music on my computer and plugged in my ipod to ipod rip it back in and it opened itunes and sycned to no songs so i ended up w/ no songs on my ipod...well my brother added all my music on his ipod a few days ago...i need to know how i can get all that music back onto my computer without the same thing happening..

an ipod is like an *******, it only goes one way, you can sync from HD->ipod not vice versa.

I dont own an ipod. For the price of the ipod, i build a computer, with larger HD, and a DVD burner. ipods cant do that. (nor check email, download ****, and upload pics from cam in tailgate)

you should try minidisc. i really don't know why they never caught on.

I have an iPod and a custom built computer, problem solved!

There is a program you can buy called Tunetools that will get it off for you. MY GF took all my music and put it on her PC with the program. Should be like $25 or $30.

Sounds to me like you have "autodetect" set on iTunes. Whenever an iPod is plugged in iTunes loads up automatically and will then sync to the iPod... that's where your problem is.

What sucks is that you have to plug up the iPod to turn this off in the "preferences", but since it's already blank go ahead and reconnect the iPod to the computer. When iTunes pops up go to the iPod options and disable the "autodetect" or whatever it's called. You should be good to go then, and connect your bro's iPod to your computer. Then fire up one of the above programs.

Actually, even if you connect his iPod to your computer it shouldn't auto update it unless you guys were sharing the same iTunes library. If you weren't it'll ask if you want to sync his iPod to your iTunes. Say no. Then disable the autodetect and shut down iTunes and use one of the above programs to rip the music.

Interesting. I just bought a new Ipod. I have an old one that has a lot of music from another library. I have not plugged my old one into this competer for fear I would lose all those songs.

But if I understand Bikini correctly I can change the synch setting and then use one of these programs to import all the songs from my old one. Is that right?
