i know y'all hate kanye, but........

Avatar...bottom right: Curtis Mayfield. Off Curtis, 1970, song "Move On Up", 8:54 with a long as break that I tried to throw up in that sample.

I remember first time I heard "Touch the Sky"; I instantly knew the original.

The poppin' my collar one I posted in that other thread is Willie Hutch's The Mack OST, 1973, song "Theme of the Mack".

at least 80% of rappers out there do not have the talent to truly freestyle.. as in without referring to past writen punch lines and such..
I can agree to that also...some of my guys who freestyle, since I know them, when they freestyle, I've heard them say it before outside of the "rap" context. Whether it be just general conversation, they've written it, etc...and I hear it when they freestyle, in the back of your head you're like: "He said that the other day at the party when he was tryin' to spit somethin' to that girl!" but you keep it inside.

they may have said it the other day, but they didnt sit around thinking...hmmmm maybe i should say this. the fact that a thought popped into his head and he was able to use it in a flow, is impressive. not everyone can do that.
