I know the answer is probably no, but

is there any way to guess what my setup is doing db-wise, without metering?

I have a 2004 Dodge Neon SXT with 2 RE8's in a ported box tuned to 35hz, running off of a Jensen XA2250 that is putting out 300 watss bridged at 4ohms.

on another topic,

Some of the things I've found out I CAN do.

1>put my cell phone on the roof, and watch it vibrate with the beat....not bounce, just move around slightly

2>put change on the rear spoiler and watch it jiggle around

3> do the t-shirt trick, but with a plastic walmart bag instead of a tshirt....I tried it once with a shirt, but it was too windy to see if anything was happening

wtf is your problem, I was just wondering if there was any way to guess how loud my system is and you make a comment about dumb threads....idiot.
Making a thread about something you yourself already know the answer to (as evidenced by your thread title) = dumb thread

Calling someone an idiot for stating the obvious = dumb move

I said "the answer is PROBABLY no", probably there being the qualifier meaning I am not sure so I want someone to let me know the correct answer. So not so dumb

I called him an idiot cause it kinda ticked me that he called my thread dumb, he could have just said a plain NO, no reason to insult me

oh, and I'm not being a crybaby....just didn't like being insulted. would have been enough to say NO, and leave it at that.

finally, enough of it anyway, end of thread

just get a db meter from walmart

ha ha ha, I had one of those DB meters from walmart, they are VERY INACCURATE ....I could yell in one and have it show 124db

Those "BoomSticks" or whatever they're called are in no way meant to be any real indication of the SPL levels you are reaching.

Well, they might be meant to do so but they are, as already stated by wolfman, nowhere close to accurate.

heres one for ya, friend of mine has a DD9515 in his truck, he has a TL and it meters the DD at 149.8db.....he bought one of the walmart meters, hit a burp on the DD one time....meter showed 135db and stuck there....wouldn't work after that.

you must thave yelled right into the thing then or were you few inches away from it?, when i had mine i held it up to my ear while i was drivin my car and had music goin and it read 125-128 db with some songs i remember and that was with all my windows up and when i had my kicker 12'' CVR runnin off of 800 watts and was prolly givin it 200 or so with the music i was playin, hell even with my fronts blasting i'd be hittin 105-106 db's and i tottally believed especially forthe high frequencies, i was skeptical with the sub bass numbers
