I know, I know, do a search. Did it and still came up with ZILTCH

Ok for all you that are confused. I posted quite a while ago about not being able to get a radio signal at all. Either AM or FM. Long story short, I traced it back to being due to my HIFONICS BXI1606D CLASS D AMP.
How exactly did you trace it back to your amp?

So then wouldnt that tell me that a CLASS D AMP is going to interfere with my radio signal. Well thats what I think anyway. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But so for I havent been proven wrong about this.
If class D amps interfered with radio signals, don't you think 99% of the forum that has said amps would be complaining about it?

No. because I'm sure im the only one here who got a faulty amp and had a horrible HU that already had a weak FM signal.

Look, if you dont believe me, too bad. Dont look anymore. Nobody has even really answered my original question anyway.

Oh and as to how I know it was the amp? lets see, turn the amp off, get FM. Turn the amp on, dont get FM. doesnt take a genius to figure that out.

I have an amp that does that kinda power, it's an old scholld hifonics ..... but as has been mentioned, that size class a/b amp is gonna cost you - that's why most everyone just gets a class D and calls it a day.

Ok. Since this has and is going in a bad direction, I'm just gonna call it done. I'll pick up a good Amp somewhere. Forget I asked.

What people are doing by asking these questions is help to find the best amp for your purpose. The comment about affecting the FM radio is a strange one not many people have come across and believe me there have been people on this forum that swear things are true and they just misinformed. A Class D amp sounds like what you need and it is pricey and more difficult to find a class A/B that will fit the bill. Hence why were tried to find out why D was out of the question. Now, what can we do about finding a class A/B amp that will put out the power he is requesting.

we actually HAVE answered the question ... there aren't any 1000 watt A/B amps in $200-250 range. You may get lucky on egay if some idiot is selling one and doesn't know what he has.

The real question is, why continue to "kick against the goad" ? If I were in this guys shoes, I would be asking myself why I seem to be the only one in the known universe that completely loses radio reception with a certain type of amp. Since I doubt it's actully the amp itself, I would try and narrow down just what's happening and why.

just my 2 cents

I would venture to guess he's somehow tied the amp turn on wired to the power antenna wire...and thats where he's getting interference from...theyre would have to be some funky wiring for the amp to stay on when listening to CDs too but thats what I conclude

have you tried an A/B amp to see if that even fixes the problem our are you just assuming it would?

Dude the amplifier is clearly not the issue then. If you are experiencing the problems you are saying then I would be willing to bet it is a problem with the wiring of your headunit or the headunit itself is damged.

Class D is not your issue........
