I have been looking for a new deck thats reasonably priced that has at least a 7-band EQ, T/a and crossover. It needs to control an Ipod also. There just doesnt seem to be much out there that you can buy and dont have to add either a processing or an Ipod adapter. Looks like I might have to go back to an 880 with the Ipod adapter. Would like an Alpine but the lack of processing isnt an option. I havent looked into Kenwood. Maybe someone can chime in with some experience with them.

I hear you. Try looking at eclipse, maybe kenwood. If my 880 acts up again Ill be looking also. My 9856 would be the balls if it had an eq! **** you alpine.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

Alpine isn't stupid, well kind of. they figure they take all the processing out and then you will have to buy a H701 to get any processing and then they make more money

I have a half din space under my deck that I would love to fill with an crossover/ eq. I used to have a kenwood that did just that. I cant find anything like it.

Hello 99StangGT. I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind:

1)You mention the PXA-H701. I am looking to buy one. Can you tell me if it can indeed be controlled by the iDA-X001 HU? If so, does it offer the same amount of flexibility and plethora of features as the default RUX-C701 control unit? I have heard nothing but great things about the H701 and would assume it goes well with any Alpine HU. Is this true?

2)Does anyone know if the iDA-X001 can read either FLAC or Apple Lossless off a standard USB External drive...either 3.5" or 2.5"?

Thanks in advance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I really dont know what the iDA-X001 can control. I dont know anyone that has one yet and Alpine doesnt have the manual for download yet. As soon as you can get the manual it should show what it can control. Looks like its suppose to be out this month.

If memory serves me right you could do the 9855 but if you like glide touch. What about the Pioneer 980 or 9800 if you can find a deal on one.

If you check on the right side, they have the owner's manual and a video showing off their 07 lineup, they talk about the iDA about 17min into it. It's good news/bad news so far. Watching the video makes me drool, because the control and the album art looks great. It's reading the manual than makes me hesitate. For one thing, it only has 2V pre-amps, ick. Nice going on a high-end deck. And the 2nd item, looking at the info, there's 2 ways to connect a 5th gen ipod, via the USB or via the direct connect. The direct connect seems more desirable, since it's their "full speed" connection, but from what the instructions say, the album art is only available when using the USB connection. What kinda crippled nonsense is this? Buuuut, watching the demo, maybe it doesn't matter. Unless they're jerks and totally edited it so that "hey, here's the album art" and then "hey, here's how you search" without showing us that they changed how it's connected.

I guess I'll wait and let others guinea pig it. I'm using a Pioneer P780MP with my ipod currently, the rotating knob turns out to not be that great. It might be ok to control with a small ipod, but with a 60GB ipod with a ton of music, it's just too slow to scroll through music. It'd be cheaper and give me better control to just rip things up and input the ipod through the audio inputs rather than the direct ipod connection, but then I wouldn't have the one cable audio/charging solution and I'd have to have my ipod sitting out somewhere again instead of tucked away where it is now.
