i just passed my mecp advanced test...

I would love to take a practice exam, if i took the exam would i have to prove employment at an audio place or something. Id like to get started on certifications but i really only know what ive picked up here over my long period here.

Neverenuff, do you have the study guide? I wish I had studied chapters 1 and 3 more. However, they throw in a bunch of random questions - lots of acronyms, a few antenna mounting questions, fiberglass mixture, etc.
And I agree. Basic is just what it states - basic. Advanced isn't anything insane, but it's definitely challenging - or was for me. I aced all the troubleshooting questions. What I had trouble with was a bunch of questions on the different types of inductors and some of the acronyms.

And I knew some of you would knock the test. The way I see it is hey, I'm getting the test paid for me and I'm getting paid to go and take the test, and then my pay increases once I pass - so why wouldn't I take it? Plus it lasts 4 years and will help ease customers to tell them you're certified in mobile electronics.

And worstenemy, I think they took all the practice tests down quite some time ago...
I had an older copy of the advanced, not sure if they changed it. If I had questions while at work I'd often look in it for answers.

Could i do it with knowledge obtained from here ??
LMFAO. While some people on here are very knowledgable most aren't but often think they are. Pick up a copy of the study guide.

basic is just a little bit of everything. what are volts, current, resistance, db, fletcher munson curve, etc. Then some technical questions like how proper way to remove panels, mount antennas, measure voltage, tach, etc.

What does SPDT stand for? Do electrons flow positive to negative or negative to positive? How many ohms is a resistor with the colors: green, blue, brown and gold?

Just a few questions that may be similar to ones on the test

bad - black - 0

boys - brown - 1

**** - red - 2

our - orange - 3

young - yellow - 4

girls - green - 5

but - blue - 6

violet - purple - 7

gave - grey - 8

willing - white - 9

56x10^1 = 560 ohms with 5% +/- tolerance

I definitely don't have resistor color codes memorized lol. They didn't have any questions like that on the basic or advanced that I took. I think the closest thing on the test asked is which band on a resistor is the multiplier.
