My computer as been having issues booting up lately. So I decided to try doing a windows repair. Well that failed catastrophically and it said the disk was corrupted. Then it wanted me to do a bunch of other shit that was impossible because then my mouse and keyboard wont work.

Im so ****ing pissed. Everything I had on their is gone. All my .doc files and everything else.

Im reformatting my computer right now. Hopefully that wont **** up too.

**** it, all mah pr0n is gone!

back your crap up. I got the external with a copy of everything and every other week I redo it. I just had to reformat a week ago and in minutes was back to where i needed to be

How expensive are they?

My hardrive is only 320GB.

What annoys me the most is how long its gonna take to get it all up and running. My XP Home disk is service pack 1 with no updates. Its a super early copy of XP. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif

or get an identical hard drive and run it at Raid1, thats what I do so if I ever have a drive fail im good, but I keep my HDDs clean of anything else that could cause issues so maybe that wouldnt help you much, depending on what the issue really is

the bad part about raid 1(imaging) is that its only good for physical defects, so if the files themselves become corrupt on the master drive, you'll have the same problem on the other disk as well..

Best option is just get an external and back up files every 4 weeks or something

Got my computer running again. Using it to :poast:

The fun part will be tomorrow when I reinstall all of my games and programs. Gonna take foreverrrrrrrrrr

Should have ran Data Recovery software but u need more than 1 drive to do that.

I have about 4 different software packages for that.

For recovering media, you MUST not only have the software to do it but also file repairing capability as well. When media gets corrupted, it gets twisted in with other media files.

IF you were to only attempt recovering without repair, a lot of songs, for example, would immediately switch over to video then back to another song, etc... and would crash your media player.

Your stuff is STILL on there, it just depends on how far u are willing to go to get it back.

on the WD my book externals, i have one as well, but....

is there an option besides USB to do the transfer? maybe like a different type of external drive setup? moving 400 gig's is pretty slow process. just wondering if anyone else knew of a faster way.

I'm currently having a similar problem w/ my laptop... Mouse and keyboard is frozen, i have no idea even where to begin to fix it. I'm not concerned about losing everything, nothing too important on there to be honest.

If u could throw me a tip on where to start i'd appreciate it greatly.
