I have seen the light of a good stereo image...

And will never go back. My set up is nothing special. However, I got to tweaking of settings and levels in my receiver the other day. I stream music off my PC to my 360 for the source.

I had an opportunity to try out my positioning and leveling. Late at night with no one home, decent day of work and was generally in a good mood. Put on some Pink Floyd and Eagles, and sat dead in the middle. On Hotel California I could "see" the singers sitting in different spots on the stage, depth and everything. The right and elft were far enough from the center, and so far in genral the sound field was just ridiculous.

With Pink Floyd, the spacey effects traveled across the entire front of the sound stage and the rear speakers were just loud enough to have the ambient space feel of some works of Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon.

Sorry if this seems like senseless rambling, but I was just really enjoying how it all sounded.

I still need better equipment all around. But the image I get with them now is insane. I want to try some songs that have rising, or sounds that seem as if they're traveling over you and see how that goes.

Funny, its something that has been around for decades. However, the home theater market masked the original idea....although it works well for both applications, generally the home theater side is about DISCRETE channels instead of stage improvement and ambiance...
