I have no clue what frequncy to tune to

I have two 12" 400wrms kenwood subs. Im going to build a ported box but i have no clue what frequency to tune to. I was told by someone to tune to 35-38 Hz so i chose 36. Now i read the FAQ at the top of the page and rethought it.

I want loudness over sound quality but i dont want to blow my subs. So what frequency should i tune to?

xmax = the maximum excursion your woofer can achieve.

Give us a scale of SQ to SPL ratio you want. (i.e. 50/50, 75/25 etc...)

36 to 38 should be fine if you just want them to get loud.

if you want a 50/50 i would go with 32hz. gets low and at the same time acan get loud. what kinda amp ya gonna use?

For an amp im going to use a kenwood mono which puts out 900 rms x 1 @ 2 ohms.

depends largely on what type of music he listens to imo. rap n stuff with low bass, tune to maybe 30 or 32 and itll put out lows and still get loud. for stuff with less intense low frequency stuff tune maybe 35-38. SQ...imo, if youre new to this stuff, youre not going to really be able to tell the difference between "good" and "bad" sq (not distortion/bogging-anyone should be able to hear that...though a lot of people seem to not notice it:crap its up to you though...and set ur ssf right
