I have a question about slot ports.

Sorry about this but I jumped the gun because I was impatient, so disregard my last topic in the wrong forum.

anyway...

I have drawn out and got the dimensions for a ported enclosure i wish to make... but when i calculate the slot port length using an online calculator the length of the port is longer than the enclosure itself.

So my question is if the length is longer than the enclosure can I make it an L shaped port and make the port that long or not?

Yes you bend the port like an "L" just like you said, how wide is your port gonna be?

port width must remain consistent for both parts of the "L". Some also throw a 45 in the corner of the "L"

It's gonna be 1.5 inches wide and 12 inches high.

Yea, making an 'L' will work just fine and x2 on putting a 45 in the corner of the 'L'

That's fine, I did one similar last weekend, try and get a small 45 degree corner piece for the elbow part of the L port otherwise you could get some noise coming out I the port. And definitely do what the guy above said and make sure the port is 1.5 inches through out the length of the port. Do these things and you should be fine. It's a piece of small wood thatyou put in the corner of the port and you cut it so when it fits in that corner it kind of makes the corner rounder versus it being just a square bend. Make sense at all? If I could link a picture to show you I would.

Just wondering, does the port have to always be an L? Or if the port length is calculated as shorter than the depth it's ok for it to just end on the side right?

The volume doesn't count the sub displacement, so keep that in mind and tune it about 1-1.5Hz lower than you want, and you'll be golden.
