In which ways are u trying to beat him.SPL or SQ. I think it will be kinda hard to beat 2 15"MTs with 3 12's. I dont know tho. I no theres ppl on here that hit 149 or something with 1 10" type R

get 3 12" mt's with an orion 2500d for each, im pretty sure you will beat him then

Just put 2 Diamond Audio D615's in and call it a day. Awesome subs. We just did a system with that exact set up in a truck with a blowthrough/cutthrough and he's doing 150's on the dash.....just an idea though....

something is WRONG if 3 12 inch mts beat 2 15 inch mts. 2 15s still have more cone area, and the power youll be running is enough for maybe a db difference= not enough power.

now, if you ran 3 12 mts with 2 orion 2500ds per sub......

As to the original question, i doubt 3 mags would beat 2 mt's but the mags would by far sound a lot better. The mags do get extremely loud don't get me wrong, but it isnt geared toward spl while the the MT is a lot more geared to it.

trust me its going to be hard to beat 2 15" MT's with 3 12s, only way i see is try out some 99 or 9500s or some other crazy loud sub

Now he is gettin 2 15MT's with 2 Hifonics 1605's to each sub (4 total).

i highly doubt you will be even able to compare to his install if he does it right (ho alts and everything nessicary)

he has potential to be in the mid 50's on a tl here. and honestly. W3's are a joke IMO. they are entry level subs. you have more cone area, but he likely has more power and way more excursion than you. so he should be winning, yours definatly should sound better on everything else, but his should be louder in the lower octaves, thats quite obvious to me.

mags shuold sound great and get really loud and low - ive heard a pair of magD2's on a IA20.1 @ ~.5ohm in like 5cubes ported to ~28hz with a dedicated 220 amp alt for the 20.1 @ 16v and they sounded pretty **** sick, but thats a great install there.

you can make a blowtrhough real good, but be sure you port it correctly, and i would only go with a pair of 12's in a blow through. you will most likely gain some SPL with 2 12's ported than 3 12's sealed off the same power.
