Ok, I have the RF600-4 in my trunk powering my polks. I was out doing some looking (never seems to be good enough for me) and I listened to a set of polks on the same amp I use vs. a JL wd600-4. MAJOR WOOD. So, can anyone help with experience with JL amps vs. RF? The thing I heard tonight was amazing.

Know what? Screw it. I'm looking for an audiophile amp to power 4 polk 6.5 momo's. Trying not to go over $400 and nothing past 150 watts RMS x 4. Getting rid of the RF.

Although I just got back into doing car audio systems, I really have to say , watt for watt I normally don't hear much of a difference in sound when using different amps. For example, The hardest hitting system I ever did was 4 10" bumber subwoofers decked out in a Buick Centry, and 2 bullet tweeters, being pushed buy 2 pyramid amps, a goose neck EQ, and a pioneer HU. So when choosing an amp, taking some ones advice is good when trying find out if they had any bad experiences with a particular amp, but as far as how good it will sound no one can tell you that but yourself. Always match your amp rms watts to your speekers rms watts to obtain the best SQ.

Did you put the jl in your car and listen to it? Or did you listen to the same speaks you have in another car with the jl amp? Reason I ask, is because when you Listen to 2 amps side by side on the same speakers in the same setup ( called a/bing) without any eq or bass boost, you will not hear a difference, especially with 2 decent quality amps like the rf and jl. You may not even hear a sonic difference between ayour rf and a high end, like audison. The old rule of thumb is to change your sound the most, change your speakers, or in the case of a car, the install makes a huge difference. You may have your polks just stuck in your doors, where the other guy may have had his doors deadened, and mdf baffles and so on. That will change the sound in a huge way.

I love you guys. Ok, I'll change out the intangibles first, like the deadener and then spend a little more time tuning, and go from there. I think RF is a good amp all around, never heard too many people complain about it. I guess I'll hold out a bit longer. I'm still new at doing installs in the garage without pro help, so I think things always can sound better.
