I hate pioneers!!

How much extra did the volume control cost? And the power switch? Did you buy the FM module?
Alpine always seemed to be one of those brands that will nickel and dime you to death.

Also, they're among the ugliest, IMO. That's obviously subjective, though.
uhh no brah, I didn't have to buy anything extra, it's simple the basic add ons are for things like ipod control or their imprint system. If they included all of those extra peripherals in the base product it would jack the price way up. I mean, it's the same reason car manufacturers don't make just 1 standard model, they allow you to pick and choose the features you want because not everyone wants the same things and there's no reason to pay for features you don't want.

For reals , my 9855 was loaded. 7 band graphic/parametric EQ , 3 way active crossover with 0/6/12/18/24DB slopes , 6 channel time alignment , ALL KINDS OF STUFF , and it was all built in.

Sounds like alot of Bitching over your Dumbass mistake!

FUCK YOU KICKER! For making a fuse that blows when i touch positive to negative!
Honestly i could care less cuz it was a 5 minute fix on a temporary deck that i plan on removing soon anyhow. I just don't see the point in a pico fuse to begin with.

I agree that its a stupid design flaw. Yes its a FLAW. Any engineer who would go backwards in technology and make a deck that has an internal fuse is an idiot.

You know what I think? The manufacture knows that some people will ground out their decks at some point and rather than have the deck catch fire or go into a permanent "protect" mode, its easier to 'blow' the whole deck and force the customer to buy a new one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Dell, HP, and all other computer manufactures have been making proprietary **** from the dawn of computer time, just for this reason. Just so you have to go back to them when you want parts/service. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

lol........ i think the fuse is a good idea.......... think about all those amps, even one in a recent thread, that have been damaged by poor ground forcing the amp to draw through the rca's......... and, i'm sure you can replace the fuse with a 1/4watt 50-100ohm resistor on the board, as mentioned, and nill the problem. i haven't bought a newer pioneer, but all my old ones, and every deck i've owned, for that matter have been hot-swapped no problem... imho, the shiz isn't even poineer anymore anyways...... not since they got bought out. i still have the deh-8000, which was the last real poineer deck worth a fcuk........ for years after, i was repeatedly replacing the "magic 45; magic50" icu's and such, allong with knobs/faceplate issues......

I don't have a Pioneer, and I still don't hot swap RCAs. Why take the risk of something going wrong when it's that **** easy to prevent?
yeaah, im with you. I have an eclipse 7200 and would NEVER hot swap RCA's and put my mkII in danger or my amps. Its so easy to turn the key off...people really complain about stupid shit

i just picked up a brand new remote for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Did you get a 4202 or the 4187? I've got both sitting in my Jeep for my 9855. Funny thing is, I don't use either of them. I have steering wheel controls //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif The 4187 is a b*tch to find, but it does work to control the angle of the face. The 4202 drops this feature but they're a dime a dozen, seeing they're still the current remote Alpine uses.

hey EJ , i'm installing that soundstream usa 305 for my dad this weekend. Hes gonna be running a X494 , 4 infinty kappa 5x7's , sundown E8 , and a custom sealed enclosure where the stock sub used to be. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif he is gonna be so happy when i'm finished.

I don't even do that, I just push the button on my CD5100 to release the faceplate, quickest way of turning the deck off. Takes even less time than turning the key...

Knowledge is power bro, lol. Now you know my secret to preventing RCA troubles while still being lazy as possible. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif
