Are plasmas really that power hungry? I don't even think our electric bill changed when moving from a 27" tube to a 52" LCD RP

600w really isn't that much though, my PC probably pulls at least 300w 24/7, and when gaming, around 450-500...

i think its like 12 cents a kilowat here in cali

kilowat equals having 10 light bulb on for one hour 100 watt one's

so say you the plasma thats 600 watts so yours wasting .6 kilowatts an hour and i watch tv average 8 hours so .6x8x30 days x.12=17.28 dollars a month

so to the people thinking your electric bill will come huge cause of one 2 or even three plasmas its bs unless their on 24 hours all 3 of them for the whole month

and renember thats cali price of 12 cents per kilo watt alot of you are seing 5-8 cents a kilo watt

thats just one plasma but everthing is gonna be a thing of the past

and plasmas dunnot waste 1000 watts unless its some older model most newer models waste 300-500 watts

LCD is not Plasma ... LCD consumes like 15% of the power of a Plasma set of equal size ...
Unless you're running a Pentium D 800-series @ ~4 GHz with high-end SLI/Crossfire graphics cards, it's not going to come close to 300 watts idle or 500 watts at full load ...

Hmm, don't recall saying LCD = Plasma, I was just showing how suprising the difference in power draw was.

And X2 3800+ OCed to 2.5GHz w/ SLI 7900GTs (so it is actually less than 300w, but I didn't realize how little power the 7900GTs used. At full load, they only draw 48w each, whereas a X1900XT draws 100+w each. I knew the X1900s were power hungry, but dayum ). Hitachi is a nice brand, so good choice on that, however I hate and I mean hate plasma TV's. I really dont see what makes them so special. I had one and gave it back for my 40" LCD Sony Bravia XBR.
