Yea, thats Mecha Godzilla
It was my Carver M240's 20th Bday!!!!!!

..... and it still works! Funny how it's older than a good percentage of this forums users //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

For it's ability to make it this far, I am going to give it an overhaul as a b-day gift. I plan to replace as many of the electrolytic capacitors that I can, and possibly some of the resistors in the signal paths with foil types..... see if I can gain anything quality wise.

i love old skool amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Finding those stubby caps might be tough, looks like I'll be spending a lot of time on Digi-Key and Mouser //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Well I opened her up again..... dang these things are bizarre inside. There is only one inductor and it looks like it is just a part of the transformer (switch-mode supply I believe). There are.... 14 SOLID enameled wires coming out of said transformer, all labeled with little stickers numbered 1-14.

I have 1x 2200uF capacitor, 2x 1500uF Mallory 50V capacitors, 2x 1000uF capacitors, and 13 other small capacitors.

Then there are 33x what look like metal film capacitor/resistor things..... but I am not sure. They are labeled by current and a number..... like "2A 256k". The 256K part makes me think resistor, but it's weird to not rate it in watts but in current capacity don't you think?

Then attached to the fuse holder is what looks like the biggest rectifier diode I have ever seen, the thing is a real fatty.

Finally I count 146 "normal" ceramic resistors.

All at the center of this is what looks just like a bridge rectifier with 4 leads coming out of it and connecting to the heat sink. On the other side of the PCB I can make out what looks like 10 fairly heavy-duty FETs of some sort. I'll have to wait to find out what kind they are //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
