I feel like starting political flame war.

Actually I don't see the melting-pot happening anymore. Its people sticking to their own and as you say "the country is just splitting apart."
Luckily there is one thing that still brings us all together, and that is a general disliking of our recent government.

How do we define our country currently...a great place with great people being led into poverty by a group of greedy, out of touch fukrs in D.C. Thats how I see it.
Yeah that's why I put melting-pot in quotations, we're not really one anymore.

I guess that's one way to define the U.S. lol, I can't really think of a better way. I am starting to honestly get scared tho. I have no idea what the country will be like in 20 years, and I don't even know if I want to find out.

I've been thinking of moving to Puerto Rico and living by the coast, sounds like a fun, relaxing, worry-free lifestyle to me.

that is the best idea i have heard all year ( it's still early though! )

....... i vote in favor of moving to PR!

It's hard to understand how, out of a country with a population of roughly 300 million, we can't find one candidate that you can stomach, let alone get enthused about.
Because I do not know a single person that wants to be President. I sure don't.

You can manage a country, live in obscurity, make $50MM per year.

or you can be President

Press down your throat ever time you take a shit, your kids all over the news, ever action you make is mocked on late night TV, pennance for wages.

Why would anyone in their right mind actually want to be President. It's only losers who can't manage their way out of a paper sack.

I am not going to argue politics though. I won't change anyone else's mind and no one is going to change mine.
I am not sure how to take this. If presented with facts that are alternative to your current beliefs and you still hold to those beliefs, I dunno what to say, but that is crazy talk.

Actually not a bad idea. Soon as my investment income exceeds my wage income, I will probably leave....try to buy my own island in the pacific or something.

Sure, it is obvious that the process alone is enough to make a lot of people say fVck it. Anyone who has been paying attention has realized that at least by the time Gary Hart was burned for his MonkeyBusiness fun.

But there are plenty of compelling reasons why a person of talent and virtue would want to lead the most powerful nation in the world. It may not be for everyone, but one would think there would be at least one such person every four years who is interested in the job.

Name some reasons...

If I was that hard up on helping the betterment of my countrymen, I would start a charity as they are quite a bit more effecient as that type of the thing that government.

It doesn't surprise me at all that no capable person wants to be President.

WSW?, would you want to be president?

I sure wouldn't. I'd much rather be CEO.

Think about it..the CEO of citigroup nearly destroyed a company and walked away with over $120MM. Bush destroyed a country and didn't make nearly as much.
