The rattling in the trunk is insane and freakin annoying. I have it sound deadened too. Should I take off the rear torsion bar? Maybe that's what's causing it.

Subsonic frequencies caused too much rattling in the trunk so I had to flip the filter switch. The rattling almost went away, but now it seems like the sub has lost its kick.

It isn't that loud in the first place. I can listen to songs at full volume and it doesn't hurt my ears or feel that punchy.

Could this be why it is an SQ sub? It doesn't have that type of "punch" I hear from other cars with subs from Rockford Fosgate?

Am I just not listening to the right songs?

which way is it facing in ur trunk??
It is facing the trunk lid. If you open the trunk, the sub is literally 3 inches away from the trunk lid. I had to do this because at first, I ran out of ground wire so the box had to be close to my grounding point (the bolt on near the trunk lid. I ordered more wiring though and I'm redoing some stuff tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should fix? I'm thinking of bolting my sub amp to the board that covers the spare tire (over the carpeting though). And doing away with the distro block, so I'd just use the inline fuse holder near the battery as a distro and run two wires from the output.

What can I use to fill in the tiny holes left from the sub amp? And the distro block? Should I just get a new box?

Yeah, any time i do an install i always face the sub towards the rear, unless the person ohterwise specifies they want it facing up or towards the Driver. Try changing the direction that it faces it might help some, being that it is so close to the trunk lid im sure it will sound better with the box in a different configuration.

No, really, the sub just has no punch.

Rear firing will only make it worse //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Are we talking about the same ascendant audio avalanche here...

Sounds like its being underpowered, and not tuned correctly, either of the two, i cant imagine you being able to turn an ava up full blast and still being able to get out of the car without your ears ringing, ive owned a 15 xxx, and brahma, this 15 ava surpasses both of them in my opionon in SQ and sheer power.. not saying its going to blow them away in any type of SPL comp, but its a **** good sub... as for saying it has no punch.. obviously youve never owned or heard one properly setup

I've installed a few - and I've been to ascendant and heard them in a few enclosures.

The avalanch just doesnt offer much beyond 45hz... the atlas has better overall SQ.

Sorry, Never worked with an Ava before, but the original poster said that he can get the punch that he wants from the sub, but when he adjust the amp acordingly the trunk rattles horribly, and as of now the sub is really close to the trunk lid, so you dont think that firing the sub towards the rear or the front will help the rattling.
