For the substage everyone always says that all of the class d amps sound the same other than ability to make output on the lowend.

I beg to differ, I was running my aq2200d on my subs and now just tested my xa5000 on one of my subs. There is clearly a big difference in sound quality between the two amps. The xa5000 clearly reproduces the sound on a wide range of songs I tested. While the aq2200d seemed to lack in anything other than your typical rap/hiphop selection. Say what you want but, there clearly is a difference in how class d amps reproduce sound. Both are class d amps but, the xa is also a full range class d.

I was always under the impression that different amps sound different.. example being my NINe.1 on low power vs a Bazooka at moderate power.

Just about everyone on here says all class d amps on subs sound the same. Not the they are identical just how they reproduce sound to a sub. I think you misread something.

i agree ,i have a dc 7.5 and a ab 500.1 , besides the dc being more power , it doesnt sound as good as the ab ,or at least until it started having issues.will be getting that fixed next week tho .then getting rid of the dc 7.5 so i can get another ab 500.1

That 105db S/N says alot for the specs that are hard to find on those VFL amps...speaks volumes actually.

i about **** myself when i went from an apsm1300 to an opti500x2 (class d vs ab). The lows come outeth! I also noticed that the jbl gto series sounds wondermous vs typical class d trash

I saw a big difference in sound going from the aq amp to a sundown amp. My sub sounded much better with sundown.

Wasn't the switch from clas d to a/b. The apsm line has a horrible low end reproduction like I stated in the first sentence some class d's suck with the low end. You pay for what you get.

oh, boy, this again..... simply put, there are huge factors that make that sound difference, which have absolutely nothing to do with it being class a/b or d. it's moreso how the manufacturer chose to build it and design the preamp, filtering, and voltage/current management. /$.02
